How to groom a dog

When you take your dog to a bathroom make sure that it has no-slip mat to stand on, you will need many towels, and you can use your old one or buy some dog towels from market. There are also dog shampoo if not that you can also use baby shampoo for them, but make sure that you use a mild one and tearless. Other things that you are going to need are hair brushes, combs which will be suitable for him, flea comb, rubber grooming mitt, grooming scissors, and tick and flea treatments if your dog do need them.

You should take him for a long walk before you start his grooming, that way he will be relaxed and more cooperative otherwise he will remain grumpy and will not let you do him work. Make sure that you have all the required equipment by your side when you start this job because you cannot leave him in bathroom on his own, it can lead to disaster. Change your own cloth with some old one before your start the cleaning.

Make him to spread on the towel and sit beside him comfortably and in relax mode. Brush his hairs carefully and smoothly and with gentle hands. You will have to run your hands through his bodies to make sure that he does not have any parasites, sore or lump. You will also have to check his paws, teeth and ears to make sure that everything is good and healthy if you find ant problem or pain you will have to make an appointment with your dog’s vet.

If you find any flea you should use a fine tooth comb it will help very much to remove them or in case of ticks you can use Vaseline to remove them. Do not try to pull them they can cause infection. You can use a comb or scissor to remove twigs as well but use scissor only if required. You will have to brush the coat thoroughly to remove all loose hairs. It will keep the coat in good condition and shiny. You can also oil your dog.

If case he has mate you will have to cut them because it gets impossible and painful to use comb on them. This is a very risky work; you can do it only if you have experience. It is important to remove the entire mat before you put water on your dog because mats get tighter after getting wet.

You should use Lukewarm water for your dog’s bath; it should not be too hot or too cold. Regular bath can lessen your work very much. Use high pressure shower to remove the shampoo thoroughly.

Take this work as a fun experience not as a job or some tough project; enjoy it as much as you can. This will help you to make a strong bond with your pet.
